RECTOR, Yaba College Of Technology on the activities to mark the 34TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY OF YABA COLLEGE OF TECHNOLOGY, YABA, LAGOS. HELD ON WEDNESDAY, 16TH NOVEMBER 2022.
"Yaba Technical Institute which later transformed to Yaba College of Technology was established in 1947 to provide technical manpower base for the then emerging Nigerian economy."
"The college since inception has produced graduates who are in enviable positions in all works of life both public and private sectors and have contributed immensely to the socio-economic and political development of the nation "
"From the Engineering fields, through to Science and Technology. The Built Environment through to the fields of Management and recently, in the fields of Agriculture and Mass Communication. These graduates of Yaba College of Technology are making significant impacts in the March towards the industrial and technological advancement of Nigeria."
"In pursuit of our focal points,the college under this current administration has continued to advance in strides towards achieving academic excellence. Some modest but remarkable achievements and progress recorded may be worthy of mention here. I will briefly highlight some:
- We have been able to maintain a fairly stable academic calendar in pursuit of acceptable academic standards despite the COVID-19 pandemic which almost grounded activities globally.
- We have improved on physical infrastructure in both Epe and Yaba campuses of the college. We have completed all the inherited projects and have initiated the construction of new projects.
- Major Rehabilitation of our hostels and classrooms.
- Improved Capacity building- over 300 staff were sponsored on trainings, workshops and conferences apart from those on TETFUND sponsorship.
- Establishment of Yabatech Radio 89.3FM
- The college was ranked as the best polytechnic in Nigeria on 3 occasions by Webometric ranking. The college was selected as a TETFUND Center of Excellence. The college is also one of the two institutions selected for TVET in Africa.
"This press conference marks the official announcement of the 34th Convocation Ceremonies scheduled for November 15 to 24, 2022. The Convocation ceremony is for the graduating class of 2018/2019, 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 Academic Sessions."
"The ceremony which has a week long programme commences on Friday, November 18 2022 with the Jumat service at 1.30pm and an interdenominational Thanksgiving service on Sunday, November 20, 2022 at 4.00pm"
"The Convocation lecture slated for November 21,2022 will be on the topic " Emergence of Successful Young Entrepreneur in Current Nigerian Economy: The place of Integrity" to be delivered by Mrs. Kalifat Araoye, MD/CEO , Lotus Bank. "
"Distinguished Gentlemen of the press, it is my pleasure to inform you that the climax of the ceremonies comes up on Thursday, November 24th 2022, when a total number of 7554 graduands will be awarded the National and Higher Diploma of the college. "
"The Distinguished Guest of Honour at the Convocation is the Honorable Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu. Other expected guests are the Chairman of Council, Prince Lateef Fagbemi SAN and members of council, the Executive Secretary, National Board for Technical Education, officials of the Federal Ministry of Education , visiting Heads of Sister institutions, college fellows and the Alumni Association. "
