Nullification and Warning on Unauthorized Nomination of Yaba College of Technology Students for Appointments

He writes; ‘The Yaba College of Technology Students Union Government (YASUG) writes to inform the General public and the students community worldwide that as a concerned major stakeholder with pedigree, history and integrity as the foremost Higher institution of learning in the education sector of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, expresses with a matter of utmost importance that requires immediate attention and consideration.’
It has come to the notice of YASUG that there have been recent Malicious discussions and initiatives from some unscrupulous elements who are parading themselves as members and officeholders within our esteemed sister union and students associations such as National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) and any other related students Associations in such category, regarding the nomination of students from Yaba College of Technology for various appointments.
We believe that Genuine office holders of these sister unions and associations stated above are knowledgeable enough to go through the right and proper channel for nomination and appointment of any student in an institution.
While the enthusiasm and drive to empower students and provide them with opportunities are commendable, it is crucial to approach such endeavors with caution and a clear understanding of the potential implications.
Nominating students for appointments, by any of the aforementioned associations or body in any institutions, should be known to the Students Union Government of such institutions.
Hence, only the SUG can guarantee that such Students nominated to represent their peers possess not only the necessary skills and qualifications but also demonstrate exemplary conduct, ethical integrity and a deep sense of responsibility and understanding of the task being nominated for, this can only be known with due processes being followed.
Hence, Yaba College of Technology Students Union Government (YASUG) will not in anyway recognize, give credence, associate or approve any appointment made by anyone from any of the aforementioned associations to Yabatech without the consent of the Students Union Government.
Yaba College of Technology Students Union Government (YASUG) exercising her Constitutional functions hereby NULLIFY all appointments made to any and all Yaba College of Technology Students without the formal consent and approvalof the Students Union Government, effective from the commencement of the 44TH YASUG administration on the 29th February 2024.
On a final note, we at YASUG urge all to exercise prudence, diligence, and good leadership in your processes related to student nominations for appointments henceforth.
By taking proactive measures and upholding high standards of professionalism and integrity, this is the only way the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), National Female Students Association of Nigeria (NFSAN), National Union of Nigerian Students (NUNS) and any other related students Associations in such category can continue to serve as a beacon of excellence and empowerment for students across the country.
